Abstract

Paddy with an initial moisture content of 17.5% was dried for 13 days to a final moisture content of 13.2% by in-store drying which incorporated the solar cooling system. The average air temperature and relative humidity were 27.1 ± 0.5 °C and 64.6 ± 6.6% respectively. The system did not affect the milling yield, head rice recovery and germination. The milling yield, head rice recovery and germination were 67.8 ± 0.2%, 84.0 ± 0.6% and 96.7 ± 0.5% respectively.
